Pops Rocks

So, here is how the conversation went:

"Meredith, how on earth did we get away from Texas with absolutely NO pictures of Pops on my camera?! I know we took pictures with him."

"Mom, Pops was just in all of those 'no flash photography allowed' situations; rocking me back to sleep when I would awaken scared and upset, putting me down for my afternoon naps, changing the crazy diaper blowouts... NOBODY wants to see pictures of that last one!"

"I know there is record on film somewhere of you with Pops during our stay and we're going to search until we find them and will not rest until we have copies in our possession!"

"Wow, Mom. That's pretty intense, but okay."

Vegetables?! Sounds Fun!

Meredith tried vegetables (more specifically, green beans) for the first time on Sunday and Dad was in control of the camera. We may as well make a flip book because I think he caught just about every last second of the experience on film. (Can you still say that when it's not on film? Hmmm...) We all had a great time! It was fun to see her squint and pucker almost like the green beans tasted sour, which compared to milk and cereal, I guess they probably do. I hope that you enjoy the experience as much as we did. Laugh and wince and giggle... experience green beans for the first time all over again with us!

Texas Trip

Meredith and Mom went to Texas for 10 days! Dad was such a brave soldier to stay home and hold down the fort all alone. We missed him terribly! We did have a wonderful time seeing family and welcoming Aunt Jennifer home from England. Meredith is 6 months old now and taking on the world. She loves to roll all over, is close to sitting completely independently and tries hard to crawl towards that toy that is just out of reach on her play mat. Enjoy the pictures. We enjoyed making the memories!

Oh, what fun!

Here are some of the latest pictures of growing baby Meredith. She loves to play on her blanket with the twisty bug that Mr. & Mrs. Leslie gave her for Christmas-- it's her favorite. These pictures are all about 2 weeks old, unfortunately, but she really hasn't changed that much besides that she is now rolling both ways (as I may have mentioned in an earlier post). On another note, I know that some of you are thinking that it is irresponsible parenting to allow your 5 month old to hang upside down from a chair, and who knows, maybe you're right, but she LOVES it! She laughs and giggles and throws herself back for more when you pull her up. So, for now, her parents are allowing it to happen. We hold on tight and give her the chance to play and discover. It's been fun!

She's on a roll!

SHE DID IT!!! She rolled from back-to-tummy Monday around 5:30 PM! Of course, being the stage shy baby that she is, she waited until Mom and Dad were both out of the room before she decided to debut her new talent, but we sure were thrilled when we came back in to find her on her tummy after we had left her on her back to play. Today is Wednesday and she rolled again and this time with a delayed but subsequent roll back to her tummy and off of the playmat. She awoke fussing about 45 minutes into her afternoon nap and lo and behold, she was on her tummy yet again unassisted! No pictures right now, but I will be sure to get some up soon.

Some of the latest

I haven't been updating much lately and I apologize. Time flies when you are soaking in every possible moment of babyhood with your little one. Most recently Meredith has discovered her feet and LOVES to hold them, kick them and suck on them. She can even get her feet to her mouth and move all of her toes out of her mouth except for her big toe so that she is sucking her "foot thumb". She's talented, what can I say? For anyone who wants to give me grief about the fact that she is wearing purple socks with her yellow West Point outfit, go ahead. It is a travesty of fashion, and I should not have allowed it. Earlier in the day she was, in fact wearing a purple onesie. When that was destroyed either by a diaper explosion or spit up, Bobby changed her. That's all I can say in the outfit's defense. Well, that and... they match the blanket?!

Next, you see that Meredith has been working on sitting up all by herself. She is getting pretty good, actually and these pictures do not necessarily do her progress justice though she does spend quite a bit of her time in this position or falling into a roll, which lands her on her back. In the words of our good friend Lee Ann, this is her "spider monkey" sitting stage.

What Fun!

Ok, so I know this post is going to end up being out of order because I haven't posted in a while and these photos are from just minutes ago. I will catch you up on the "in between" as soon as I get a few more moments.

But, for now, here are a few fun pictures of Meredith having a great time playing with and attempting to swallow the empty Wheat Thins box. She was eyeing it the other day as it sat on her play mat while I snacked nearby. So, today when she was just as fixated on it while I ate from it, I decided I would let her have it when the box was empty. She loved it! What is it with kids and empty boxes?! :) It was nice to see her so happy since she has been displaying quite the little 'tude after waking from her afternoon nap.

I am going to go ahead and confess that there are probably way too many pictures of Meredith with a silly Wheat Thins box, but... I just can't help myself. Apparently Bobby can't help but have his shirt off in every picture that gets posted to this site.
