Daddy likes to read to Meredith when she is alert during the day or in the evenings. Meredith has really been enjoying story time, but often loses interest in the pictures on the page and stares off at other things around the room. Forgive Bobby's "shirtlessness "in the latter pictures-- I just catch the moments as they happen. The bear hug sleeping pictures are some of my favorites. They were actually taken just an hour ago.

Mom's Birthday
Today was a WONDERFUL day! Dad and Meredith planned a wonderful day full of surprises for me (mom); first stop was the day spa in downtown Savannah where they had arranged a pedicure and swedish massage, then they took me to The Lady & Sons Restaurant, just a few blocks away, for a fabulous and memorable lunch. (I am fairly certain that the punctuation in the previous sentence is incorrect. Please forgive me this once as I post this late at night in time to feed the baby after her bath.) For those of you who do not know, The Lady & Sons restaurant is Paula Deen's restaurant in downtown Savannah, which was open before she ever got a cooking show on food network, but since then has become quite the tourist attraction. People wait for countless hours to get in. We waited about 10 minutes. What can I say, Dad and Meredith are pretty good at planning surprises. We came home and caught up on phone calls from friends and family, got a little rest in, and later, went to Texas Roadhouse for dinner. Dad and Meredith thought that after a morning getting acquainted with our new hometown of Savannah, we should do something that "felt like home". It wasn't as nice as actually making it back to Texas, but it came in a close second under the circumstances.
Now on to the Meredith updates:
Yesterday, Tuesday, she rolled from her back to her side and back to her back again while playing on her activity gym.
Today, at lunch, she began to bat at her car seat toys and really interact with them. She was smiling, talking and batting at the toys-- it was so fun and exciting to watch!

The Stonebridge Playground
We made our first trip to the neighborhood playground this evening and had a great time! It is a bit chilly outside, so Meredith was all bundled up in her bunny outfit and mouse hat... we're pretty sure she is THE CUTEST baby EVER! You'll probably agree when you see the pictures. She went down the slide once with mom and once with dad and was not quite sure what to think it seems. Well, I don't know, check out the reaction for yourself-- see the last picture in the slideshow.
My New Bumbo
Meredith loves to sit up in Mom and Dad's laps facing out to see the world around her, so this weekend, we went out and got a Bumbo seat. She loves it! She is still a little bit wobbly, (which is why some of these pictures are a bit blurry), but we are going to practice a little bit every week and pretty soon we'll be sitting up tall all by ourselves for minutes at a time. Thanks Grandpa Briggs for the Bumbo! By the way, Meredith wants to make sure you all check out her fabulously fashionable "rattle boots" that she got this weekend too. She thinks that they are probably the up and coming trend for the winter season for babies everywhere.

We finally have a Nursery!
We finally have a nursery! And, with the help of our wonderful friends The Krahmers, who came and helped us at the new house all weekend, we were able to paint it a beautiful green! Mom (Jaime) was pretty apprehensive about taking on the project at first, but with Melissa's encouragement and expertise, it looks great! Don't let the pictures fool you, Mom was pretty apprehensive the WHOLE time... "Did I pick the right color? Is it going to glow green like that when it's dry? Will anyone want to buy this house with the bedroom painted this color? What if I mess up?" I know most of you aren't surprised that I would worry about things like that. But, again, it turned out wonderfully and was a fun group effort. We will continue to post pictures as we make more progress. Bobby got all of the furniture in the room once the walls were dry. We still have to put the crib together and get some decorations up. Let us know when you want to come for a visit to see it for yourself!
In Savannah Now
The Briggs Family is officially living in Savannah, GA now in our very first house. We are proud homeowners and can't wait to have family and friends come for visits! Meredith is two months old and growing really fast. She smiles and talks more and more every day and today reached for Mom's face while we were smiling and talking to one another. It was quite an exciting event for Mom! Here are some pictures of Meredith in the new house.

Meredith Starts Smiling
Meredith started smiling at 5 weeks old and has since become quite the entertainer. She loves to smile and coo as she lays on her changing table wildly flailing her arms and legs as fast as she can. We got a GREAT video clip of it yesterday morning on my camera but unfortunately lost it in the transfer to the computer. We will try to get another one and post it soon. Until then, here are some great pictures.
